On 28 August 2022, if necessary, Bangladesh army troops would be deployed in Rohingya camps to stop drugs from being smuggled into Bangladesh, said Asaduzaman Khan Kamal, home minister according to Dhakatribune reporting.
“Mobile phones of the Rohingya Refugees will be tracked so that they cannot commit any illegal activities,” he further told the reporters.
Bangladesh has seen a sharp increase in the Yaba drug smuggling in the last few years and is alarmed.
A Rohingya youth, Sayed Amin said, “The drug smugglers are not only harming Bangladesh, but they are giving the Rohingya a bad name. They also use their illegal fortune and power to abuse us.”
