Today, Bangladesh has asked Myanmar for an early, voluntary, safe and sustained repatriation of the Rohingya refugees residing in the Cox’s Bazar.
On the occasion of the 74th Independence Day of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed in a message, “As an immediate and friendly neighbour, the people of Bangladesh have been persistent in developing mutually beneficial relations with the people of Myanmar and will work together to further the relationship.”
Bangladesh has also expressed greetings and felicitations to the people of Myanmar and wished them peace and prosperity.
On 4th January 1948, Burma (now officially the Republic of the Union of Myanmar) officially declared independence from Britain.
Today, the Myanmar junta held a ceremony in Naypyidaw to mark Myanmar’s 74th independence day. The event was chaired by the Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council, Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
