Last Sunday, Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has proposed the United Kingdom resettle 100,000 Rohingya refugees from the Cox’s Bazar refugee camp.
The PM made the proposal to his British counterpart Elizabeth Truss on the sidelines of a Commonwealth event in Kigali, Rwanda.
In response, Truss told Momen, “While the UK could look into it [resettlement of Rohingyas], the best solution to the Rohingya crisis, however, lies in their safe and sustainable return to their homeland in Myanmar.”
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK Saida Muna Tasneem was also present during the meeting.
