Yesterday, the Bangladesh Navy team arrived in Yangon for their 3-day trip according to a press release. The team was lead by Commodore Mustaque Ahmed, a high-ranking delegation from the Bangladesh Navy, which also included Captain Ahamed Amin Abdullah, Commander Mohammad Arifur Rahman, and Lieutenant Commander Hasan.
The visit is expected to potentially foster bilateral naval cooperation and discuss matters of mutual interest.
However, activists have expressed dismay over the delegation visit to Myanmar, Yadanar Maung, a spokesperson for Justice For Myanmar said, “The Myanmar Navy is responsible for the commission of genocide against Rohingyas and is part of an illegal and illegitimate military junta that is now waging a campaign of terror against the people of Myanmar.”
Sending a top-tier delegation for Naval discussions shows no hatred against Junta and their crimes which lead to genocide.
