On June 02, 2020, at (3:00 )Pm United Nation High Commission for Refugee office located at (3) miles of Maung Daw, Arakan state (Rakhine), distributed some essential materials to the village of the Kyaw Lakha.
The items of the distribution are: Mate(3), tarpaulin(2), Mosquito net(3), clothes(5) and rope(1).
Villager Tofial Ahmed (78) aged and his son A Ullah (35) were among the recipient of the UNHCR’s materials. The village Chairman, Tawmise Juhar arrived at the house of Tofial Ahmed at (5:30) pm of the same day and demanded to give back some materials which they got from the UNHCR.
The Chairman has beaten them upon their refusal and forcefully taken the goods.”The village chairman, Twamise Zuhair has also stolen goods provided by the ICRC in the past” stated another villagers.
It is said how village chairman abuses their own people to satisfy their master – the Myanmar Military and the officials.
