China says it will support the Rohingya repatriation

On Monday, a press conference organized at Ganobhaban residence where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “China has promised to do whatever it takes to restore the Rohingya people who took refuge in Bangladesh.”

In the press conference, the Prime Minister was asked whether there is any information related to the Chinese Prime Minister and President regarding the return of Rohingya.

In response, the Prime Minister said, “They (Chinese President and Prime Minister) have said that they will see and consider”.

She added that It is true that China has always sided Myanmar. But they also acknowledge that the Rohingya refugee issues should be resolved quickly.

On Prime Minister Li Keqiang’s invitation Sheikh Hasina went for a 5-day official visit to China on 1st July. She returned to the country on Saturday.
