On November 23 Anowar Hossain, a Field officer of Directorate General of Defense Intelligence (DGFI) Cox’s Bazar office filed a case accusing 66 ARSA (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) members, including Ata Ullah alias Jununi, in connection with the killing of DGFI officer Squadron Leader Rizwan Rushdi during an anti-narcotics operation at the Tumbru border of Ghumdhum Union of Naikkongchari Upazila of Bandarban.
The case has been registered with Naikkongchari police station and on Saturday afternoon, the police of Naikkongchari police station has reached the ground to investigate the incident.
According to source, in the case filed at Naikkongchari police station, 31 people have been named, including Ataullah Abu Ammar alias Jununi (48), the “chief commander” of ARSA as the main accused. Another 30 to 35 unidentified people have been accused in this case.
The Rohingyas welcomed the initiative taken by DGFI and even claimed the exemplary punishment against the culprits who are involved in the killing of a DGFI officer and a Rohingya woman in Zero Line on the same day.
