On Tuesday evening, July 9, 2024, police discovered the dismembered and decomposing body of Nazim Uddin, 47, in a hilly area near the Hwaikong Union Rohingya camp in Teknaf. According to Teknaf Police Station Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Osman Gani, the victim’s body was located approximately 300 meters from the Chakmarkul Rohingya camp boundary.
Sahuda Khatun, Nazim’s wife, recognized the rope around his waist and nearby clothing, identifying him as a resident of Block B-2 in the 21-number Rohingya camp.
The police suspect that Nazim’s murder occurred 8–10 days before his discovery and are currently investigating the motive and potential suspects.
Officer-in-Charge Muhammad Osman Gani of Teknaf Police Station confirmed the discovery, stating that an investigation is underway to determine the motive and identify the perpetrators. Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital has received the body for an autopsy.
