Ayub, a father of four daughters from Camp-3 in Kutupalong, has become the latest victim of a harrowing crime that underscores the vulnerability of refugees in the camps. Kidnapped by local dacoits in Shamlapoor, Ayub’s life was tragically cut short after his family was unable to meet the kidnappers’ demand for an 8 lakh BDT ransom.
His lifeless body was found with chains restraining his hands and legs, a grim indication of the torture he endured. This horrifying act has plunged Ayub’s family and the broader community into mourning, amplifying concerns about safety and security within the camps.
“This incident reflects the lack of security and justice in the camps,” said a local resident. “We live in constant fear, and no one is safe.”
The brutal murder has sparked outrage among residents, who are calling for immediate action from authorities to ensure justice for Ayub and improved security for the camps.
Community members are demanding:
- Justice for Ayub: Arrest and prosecution of those responsible for this heinous act.
- Enhanced Security Measures: Increased patrols and monitoring to prevent similar incidents.
- Support for the Bereaved Family: Assistance to Ayub’s wife and daughters as they cope with this devastating loss.
This tragedy highlights the urgent need for stronger protections and accountability in the refugee camps, where incidents of crime are becoming alarmingly frequent.
The Rohingya community stands united in grief and outrage, urging authorities to take decisive action to prevent further tragedies and restore a sense of safety and justice in the camps.
