A fire broke out suddenly at around 12:59 a.m. in Camp-19, Block C-7, affecting the Multiple Purpose Child and Adolescent Center (MPCAC) operated by Save the Children, according to local residents.
People living nearby said the fire spread quickly and caused panic in the area. However, no family shelters were damaged. Only a section of the MPCAC building was burned.
Community members responded immediately and worked together to control the fire before it could spread further. Thanks to their quick action, the fire was brought under control within a short time.
No injuries were reported, and families in the surrounding area remain safe. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
Residents have called for stronger fire safety measures in the camps to prevent similar incidents in the future, stressing that crowded conditions make even small fires extremely dangerous.
The incident once again highlights the importance of community coordination and rapid response during emergencies in the Rohingya camps.
