Kyauktaw, November 3, 2025 — The humanitarian situation in Kyauktaw Township has sharply deteriorated as continued fighting in the area has triggered a severe food shortage. Many Rohingya families are struggling to secure daily meals, while waterborne illnesses are spreading due to the lack of clean water and poor sanitation.
Local residents reported that food prices have surged dramatically, making essential items such as rice, oil, and vegetables unaffordable for most families. Ongoing clashes have also disrupted aid deliveries, leaving thousands without access to basic humanitarian relief.
“If I say 40% of Kyauktaw’s people are facing food difficulties, it would not be wrong,” a resident told Rohingya Khobor. “Many families go to bed hungry, and some have started skipping meals.”
In addition to widespread hunger, the lack of clean water has led to outbreaks of diarrhea and skin diseases across several villages. “We don’t have clean water to drink,” said a mother of four. “My children are often sick with diarrhea, but there is no clinic nearby.”
Community members are urging for immediate humanitarian intervention, warning that without access to food and safe drinking water, the health crisis could worsen rapidly in the coming weeks. Aid agencies and local leaders are calling for safe access for relief workers to deliver emergency food, water, and medical supplies to affected villages.
