Four Rohingyas arrested and sentenced to two years prison at Ming Hla court

On 21st September 2022, the Lawaka (Immigration) police arrested four Rohingyas while travelling in upper Ming Hla Township, and now have been sentenced to imprisonment for two years by Ming Hla court.

The arrested are all are from Maungdaw township of northern Rakhine state.

It has been learnt that the Lawaka arrested them while they were travelling for Malaysia and left abandoned by the brokers in a forest of upper Ming Hla Township in Mogway region.

The Lawaka police filed a case against the arrestees with Ming Hla police station and later on the Ming Hla Township court immediately decided the arrested Rohingyas guilty and the court sentenced them to two years prison to hard labor according to Section 6 (2) / 6 (3) of the Union of Myanmar Residents Registration Act of 1949.
