A high level Bangladeshi government delegation led by Khalilur Rahman, National Security Adviser and High Representative to the Chief Adviser on Rohingya Issues, visited Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar on 19 January, according to officials.
Visit to Rohingya Football League
The delegation began its visit by attending a match of the Rohingya Football League 2026, where officials observed the game and interacted with members of the refugee community. Officials said the visit aimed to highlight the role of sports and youth engagement in encouraging social cohesion and positive activities inside the camps.
Meeting with Rohingya representatives
Following the football event, the delegation went to the Camp in Charge office of Camp 4, where a meeting was held with Rohingya community representatives.
The meeting was attended by Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner, along with other senior Bangladeshi government officials.
According to participants, discussions focused on the current situation of Rohingya refugees and future planning for achieving what officials described as a sustainable and durable solution to the Rohingya crisis. Topics raised included protection concerns inside the camps, humanitarian needs, and long term prospects for Rohingya refugees.
Officials did not announce any specific policy decisions during the visit. Rohingya representatives said they shared concerns related to safety, services, and uncertainty about the future, while urging authorities to take their voices into account in decision making.
