Maungdaw: On Thursday (October 13) around evening military troops blazed residential houses of Pha Wat Chaung village in northern Maungdaw of Rakhine state, after AA radical rebels left the village earlier the day.
A local from Pha Wat Chaung (Fuwa Khali) who declined to be named told that earlier Thursday some of the AA rebels stationed at Pha Wat Chaung and left. Later on in the evening military troops entered into the village and as soon as they left, the villagers saw the flames. The military claims that it must be AA who set fire in the village.
Pha Wat Chaung (Fuwa Khlai) is a village where both Rohingya and Rakhines live. But the section of Rohingyas was attacked, blazed and destroyed by military troops along with the help of Rakhine extremists in three phases of the violence respectively in 2012, 2016, and 2017.
“Blaming other after committing crimes is a usual habit of military troops”, another villager said and added that in the past, military forces with the help of Rakhines set fire and destroyed Rohingya villages, and afterward both military and Rakhines blamed Rohingya by saying they (Rohingya) blazed their own houses to accuse both regime and Rakhines. It might be certainly military council who set fire in the village.
