Rakhine state: On 13 October (Thursday) around 7:30 pm a Rohingya woman with her two children received serious injury in mine explosion on the boundary fence of Sakaha no. 9 Operation Command Headquarter which is very closed to Seng Tok Palaung (Rohingya) village in Kyauktaw.
The victims to mine explosion are Pusho Banu (42), and her two children of under two years, reside at Seng Tok Palaung (Rohingya) village in Kyauktaw.
The locals said that Banu along with her two children were seriously injured due to the explosion very close to her house. “Banu received critical wound in her abdomen and chest while her children were bruised in the back”, a resident of the village told Rohingya Khobor (RK).
“The distance between Saka Kha (9) fence and the houses of our village is only 12 feet,” another villager said and also added that She (Banu) was working by standing in the house, so the landmine hit her directly in the chest, and her sons got a little bruised on back because she was sitting, he said.
Currently, Banu is under hospitalization in critical condition at Kyauktaw city hospital, while her children are receiving treatment at Seng Tok Palaung.
A resident who did not want to be named told that when the mine exploded and injured the residents, we went to talk to the mine manager from Sakaha (9), who responded that the mine blasted due to a short circuit.
“Now there are about 10 more mines attached to the fence, which can blast at any time” he said this and further mentioned that about 250 houses with population more than 1,400 are in the village, who are in highly panic.
