According to the Disaster Management Department around 9,489 residents of the townships, 2,323 from Kyauktaw, 4,282 from Mrauk-U and 2,886 from Minbya were affected by the monsoon flood. After four days of flooding, the water started to decrease on 15th July.

In Mrauk-U, the flood added a new layer of misery to the local residents who are taking shelter at camps after being displaced by clashes between the Myanmar Army (Tatmadaw) and the Arakan Army.
Tein Nyo IDP camp has 3,000 houses for internally displaced persons (IDPs) is waiting for relief and assistance.
Since the internet shutdown from 21st June, inhabitants of Rakhine and Chin states have serious social and economic impacts. The ban of the internet is making the impact of the flood even more miserable for residents as they are unable to communicate with the officials in charge of their unbearable situation and to obtain emergency relief.
