Buthidaung : On Saturday (October 29) around 4:30 pm, the military shot a Rohingya man at Taung village of Buthidaung while he was looking for a cow which had gone missing for three days.

The injured Rohingya is Md. Salay (52) son of Hamid Hussein, resident of Tha Ye Taung hamlet of Guda Pyin village in Buthidaung township.

A Rohingya from the village told Rohingya Khobor (RK) that the military council stationed in the village shot four rounds ammunition and the bullet hit Salay’s throat while he reached Taung village through main road to look for a cow which is missing for last three days.

“Despite military knows Salay is a Rohingya civilian, the military intentionally shot him to serious injury for he is from Rohingya community”, another Rohingya told RK under the condition of anonymity.

Since August of this year, both military and rebel group Arakan Army have been – it appears – deliberately killing Rohingya men and raping women in the name of tensions between the two armed group.

The Rohingya ethnic minority has no where to go in search of safety in Rakhine state of Myanmar. If they leave Rakhine state for safety and dignified life, the military council arrests them and sentences them to prison under immigration act where they have to face untold torture.
