The La Wa Ka has said that around a dozen new born children from Nayapara in Southern Maungdaw have to leave the country after their families failed to pay hefty bribes to the authorities.
On Tuesday, La Wa Ka personal went to the village to collect bribes to register newly born children, ordering the families to pay 11,000 kyats. However, 11 poor families could not afford the bribe money.
The La Wa Ka officals then said as these Muslim families were not natives of the region, and their new born kids could not be ‘registered’, they will have to leave the country immediately.
They went away uttering the threat that the families will face dire consequences if they found the children had continued to stay in Myanmar.
