On Tuesday, The first death due to COVID-19 of a Rohingya in the refugee camp has been registered. And on the same day, another two coronavirus infected refugees reportedly fled quarantine according to the Community leader of the refugee camp.
It is not determined yet how many tests have been conducted in the camps, but a senior health official said two Rohingya refugees who were positive had fled the isolation hospital on fear of being transferred to a remote island called “Bhashan Char” according to the daily mail reporting.
As for now, 29 Rohingyas are confirmed infected with Covide-19 and another 16,000 Rohingya are in quarantine zones within the camp.
The Rohingyas are living in fear in the over crowed camps where social distancing is virtually impossible.
