In a humanitarian effort to support Rohingya families suffering from severe food shortages in Maungdaw Township, local and international Rohingya business owners have donated financial aid and essential food supplies through the Arakan Army (AA)/United League of Arakan (ULA).
The donations were distributed via the ULA/AA’s Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO).
Food Assistance for Rohingya Families in Latha Ward
On March 2, Rohingya returnees in Latha Ward, Maungdaw, received food aid donated by local Rohingya benefactors. Each family was provided with:
- One bag of rice
- One liter of cooking oil
- One viss (approximately 1.6 kg) of onions
More than 250 families benefited from the donation, which was distributed through ULA/AA coordination.
Financial Support for Refugees in La Faw Khaung Camp
On March 3, an international Rohingya donor contributed financial aid to Rohingya refugees in La Faw Khaung camp. The donations were distributed based on families’ needs, with AA assisting in the process.
AA sources stated that the group facilitated the donation process to ensure aid reached the most vulnerable families in conflict-affected areas.
Community-Driven Humanitarian Support
According to a source close to AA leadership, ULA/AA’s Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO) continues to act as a channel for local and international donors to provide aid to Rohingya communities suffering from extreme poverty and displacement in Maungdaw and Buthidaung.
This latest initiative underscores the ongoing struggles of Rohingya communities in war-torn regions and the critical role of Rohingya business owners in providing direct humanitarian relief.
With limited access to external aid, these community-driven efforts have become an essential lifeline for Rohingya families facing hunger and hardship.
