ARNA extends its condolences to the international Catholic community on the loss of its leader, Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, who died at the age of 88 on Monday, April 21st.
Pope Francis was a fierce advocate for peace in Myanmar and encouraged leadership in Myanmar to dialogue and promote peace in order to stop violence. In 2017 after the violence perpetrated towards the Rohingya by the military, Pope Francis continued to advocate for the plight of the Rohingya people and advocate for the realization of their rights.
ARNA expresses its condolences to the international community who has lost a tremendous leader and champion of human rights, dignity of all peoples, and advocate for migrants and refugees globally.
