On Monday (April 3) afternoon The Cox’s Bazar court sentenced two Rohingyas to 10 years imprisonment in the case of smuggling 2 lakh 68 thousand yaba in Cox’s Bazar. At the same time, the convicts have been fined 5 lakh taka, and in default of payment of the fine, they have been sentenced to one more year of imprisonment without labor.
Senior District and Sessions Judge of Cox’s Bazar Mohammad Ismail announced the verdict.
Public Prosecutor (PP) of Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge Court, Advocate Faridul Alam confirmed the matter and he said that the court sentenced 10 years rigorous imprisonment to Rohingya father and son in the case of 2 lakh 68 thousand yaba trafficking.
The convicts are Kalim Ullah, son of deceased Zahid Hossain of Thaingkhali Rohingya camp in Palangkhali Union of Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar and Kefayet Ullah, son of Kalim Ullah. The convicted accused were present in the court when the verdict was read.
PP Advocate Faridul Alam represented the state in the case and Advocate MA Bari handled the case on behalf of the convicted accused.
