Cox’s Bazar, November 7, 2025 — The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has strongly denied claims made by the Arakan Army (AA) that Bangladeshi forces attacked one of its camps along the Myanmar border, calling the accusation “false, baseless, and purely propaganda.”

According to BGB officials, the reported incident occurred on November 5 near the Palong Khali area close to border mark 19. BGB said that three armed members of the Arakan Army crossed the zero line into Bangladesh and fired three shots toward a BGB post, one of which struck the border fence. In response, BGB personnel fired several warning shots, and the situation was quickly brought under control. No casualties were reported.

BGB rejected the AA’s accusation that Bangladesh’s border forces support Rohingya armed groups such as ARSA or RSO, stating that the force “strictly adheres to international border laws” and operates to maintain peace and security along the frontier.

The statement also noted that in the past, bullets fired by the Arakan Army had struck homes and shops near the border, injuring Bangladeshi civilians. Landmines allegedly planted by the AA have also caused casualties — including the death of one BGB soldier inside Bangladeshi territory.

Officials said the AA’s allegations are part of a “misinformation campaign” intended to damage BGB’s reputation. “The Arakan Army is spreading lies because we have disrupted their drug and smuggling routes between Myanmar and Bangladesh,” one BGB officer said.

BGB emphasized that its strong enforcement actions have reduced the illegal entry of yaba tablets and other narcotics from Myanmar. The force stated that while it remains committed to protecting Bangladesh’s sovereignty and public safety, false propaganda from the AA threatens to increase mistrust and instability in the border region.

“BGB has never supported or helped any armed group,” the statement read. “Our duty is to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty and uphold peace. We urge the Arakan Army to stop spreading misinformation and work toward reducing tensions.”

The BGB reaffirmed that it will continue operating transparently and lawfully along the border while responding to disinformation “with facts, discipline, and truth.”
