Maungdaw – Local administration are set to confiscate Rohingya lands in Sitar Pawrika, Maungdaw South.
Last week, officials came to the village and put up red flags on land belonging to seven households and land belonging to a mosque. Altogether, 18 acres of land belonging to the Muslim community are being confiscated.
Locals have been warned to stay away from the mosque.
Sources say the government is looking to build a model Hindu village in the land.
The Hindu minority of Arakan have long been considered second class citizens but in recent years, the regime has courted the community to use them against the Rohingyas.
