Abul Kalam, a Rohingya photojournalist who was arrested by Bangladesh Police on accusation for assaulting and interfering with public officials was released on bail.
Kalam was arrested on 28th December for taking photographs of buses which were carrying Rohingyas to Bhasan Char from Kutupalong Refugee camp. According to the Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Kalam still faces charges including up to three years in prison. RSF said, “The local authorities are annoyed by his coverage of their handling of the Rohingya refugee issue, in particular, the forced transfer of the refugees to Bhasan Char.” RSF urged to drop all charges against Kalam.
