Cox’s Bazar – January 29, 2025
The lifeless body of Mohib Ullah (20), son of Md Ullah and Shobika, was discovered around 4 PM near the TV Tower in Yahiya Garden, close to the rubber garden beside the BDRCS hospital, west of the main road, and near the mountain.
Initially, his identity was unclear, but he has now been confirmed as a resident of Camp 2E. A group of Rohingya youths, who had gone to play football in the area, first spotted the body. They recorded a video and shared it within the community to alert others.
The cause of his death remains unknown, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
Rising Fear Over Security in Rohingya Camps
This disturbing discovery has heightened fear among Rohingya refugees, who are already grappling with worsening security conditions.
“Cases of kidnapping, abduction, and violence have been increasing inside and outside the camps. Many victims face brutal consequences if they cannot pay a ransom,” said a Rohingya resident.
The growing insecurity has put thousands of refugees at risk, with families fearing for their loved ones.
Call for Urgent Action
Community leaders and humanitarian organizations are urging authorities to strengthen security measures and investigate the rising violence in the camps.
“Ensuring the safety and protection of Rohingya refugees requires a collective effort. We cannot afford to ignore these tragedies any longer,” said a community member.
As the situation deteriorates, justice for victims and proactive measures are crucial to preventing further loss of innocent lives.
