Near Palongkhali zero line, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh | April 11, 2026
A Rohingya youth was seriously injured in a landmine explosion near the Myanmar border on the morning of April 10, according to local sources. The incident occurred close to the zero line near Palongkhali union.
The injured man, Md Sadeq, 25, is a resident of Block F-13 of Rohingya Camp No. 10 in Balukhali, Ukhiya.
Sources said Sadeq and several others had gone near the Naf River for fishing when the explosion took place inside Myanmar territory. He sustained severe injuries to his left leg, particularly around the ankle.
People accompanying him rescued him from the scene and took him to an MSF hospital in Kutupalong for initial treatment.
Due to the severity of his condition, he was later referred to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for further medical care.
The incident underscores the continued risks along the border areas, where landmines remain a threat to civilians moving near or across the boundary.
