The Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) has issued a stern statement denouncing the spread of false propaganda aimed at misleading the Rohingya people. The organization expressed its unwavering commitment to the national interest, vowing to continue its resistance against enemy forces while urging civilians not to fall victim to the ongoing conspiracies.
The statement comes in the wake of RSO’s strategic withdrawal from Maungdaw town, a move that the organization clarified was not out of fear but rather to reduce civilian casualties. According to the RSO, the Arakan Army (AA) insurgents have increasingly targeted residential areas with drone strikes, leading to the deaths of hundreds of innocent civilians and the destruction of homes. The group also accused certain factions involved in yaba trafficking and human trafficking of spreading malicious rumors to incite panic among the people.
On August 5th, the situation escalated as thousands of innocent civilians gathered along the Naf River banks, attempting to flee their homes. Drones and shock missiles tragically claimed the lives of around 300 people and injured hundreds more.
The RSO further condemned some organizations and individuals who have been allegedly spreading false news about the group on social media, accusing them of attempting to discredit the RSO’s reputation out of jealousy and malice. The statement also highlighted concerns over local thugs exploiting the RSO’s name to instill fear among the populace.
Despite these challenges, the RSO assured the public that it has left Maungdaw as a strategic move to minimize civilian casualties and reaffirmed its dedication to resisting the enemy. The group emphasized that it is closely monitoring enemy movements and will never betray the national interest.
The statement concludes with a call for unity among the Rohingya people, urging them to resist falling prey to propaganda and to support the RSO’s continued efforts to safeguard their communities.
