A man maimed by the military during the 2012 riots had crossed over to Bangladesh for medical treatment, but is going back after failing to necessary funds.
25 year Kefayet Ullah from Merulla, Maungdaw South crossed over into Bangladesh on September 20 with great difficulty, in the hope that sympathetic refugees in Bangladesh would donate some money to him. But he has been unable to raise any meaningful funds.
In 2012, Kefayet was in Kiladong when army detained him and tortured him without mercy. During the torture, soldiers repeatedly hit Kefayet with full force breaking his spinal cord and bones. Since then Kefayet cannot even seat up. He even cannot go to the toilet. It is with great difficulty that he has been carried into Bangladesh.
