After the August 2017 heinous operation of the Military, more than 700000 has fled the country to Bangladesh and a large group has taken shelter in other villages.
A very large number of Rohingya from Gudam Pyin village, whose houses were burnt by Myanmar Military in 2017, has taken refuge in other villages. The Rohingyas of Buthidaung and Rathidaung are specially facing a shortage of food at a crisis level.
A local villager said, “Initially, the World Food Program (WFP) used to provide ration, but now it has halted its operation from last month.”
On the other hand, hundreds of Rakhine refugees from Yathedaung, Buthidaung, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U and Minbya townships are also facing starvation due to shortage of rice supply and government obstacle to food distribution.
