Last week’s devastating torrential rain almost submerged the south-eastern part of Bangladesh including main cities and Rohingya refugee camps.
Rohingya camps have seen more than a hundred landslides over the years and the last one which occurred on Monday has killed at least 5 Rohingya people, the exact number appears to be increasing on a day to day basis. Among those who are dead are a mother and child who were washed away due to the landslide.

Till now, more than fifteen hundred makeshifts have been destroyed due to landslides making refugees homeless overnight. Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization reports that “further bad weather could trigger a major humanitarian and health emergency leading to further deaths, injuries, mass displacement and the potential spread of water-borne diseases.”
The Bangladesh Army has been deployed to assist with humanitarian efforts in the area.
