On 2 August 2020, Arakan League for Democracy party announced the names of their candidates for 2020 Myanmar General Election.
The Arakan League for Democracy party is a political party rooted in the Rakhine state, Myanmar. ALD was formed in 1989 by Aye than Aung, a Rakhine political leader.
On 17 June 2013, the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party and Arakan League for Democracy party signed an agreement to merge under the name Arakan National Party but in 2017, ALD split from ANP and re-registered for 2020 election. Additionally, as of 5 October 2017, five members of parliament four state Hluttaw members and one Amyotha Hluttaw member have resigned from the Arakan National Party and joined the re-registered Arakan League for Democracy.
ALD selected 28 candidates for 8 November 2020 General Election.
8 candidates for the lower house, 6 candidates for Upper house and 14 candidates for state and regional parliament.
