On 22 November 2022, the government of Japan and UNFPA signed an exchange of notes for the assistance to Rohingya in Bhashan Char and host communities in Noalhali district.
This $ 3.7 million contribution will be used the fields of the improving access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services, protecting the dignity and safety of women and adolescents and youths.
Ito Naoki, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh said that Japan can provide additional assistance to Rohingya Refugees in Cox’s Bazaar, Bhashan Char, and the host communities through UNFPA.
The Ambassador hoped that this assistance will help the protection of women and girls, their dignity, and improvement of their quality of the life. The Ambassador also emphasized that Japan will stand by the government and the people of Bangladesh in supporting the Rohingya Refugees response in Bangladesh.
Since 2017, Japan has been contributing over USA $ 175 Million to the Rohingya Refugees response in Bangladesh. Japan has continuously supported the population of genocide survivors through generous aid donations.
