The second batch of 1804 Rohingya refugees reached on five naval boats from Ptenga to Bhasan Char of Hatiya Upazila in Noakhali district today at around 11:30 AM.
On 28/12/2020 early morning, 1804 Rohingya refugees were boarded on buses from a couple of makeshift camps of Ukhiya and Shamlapur. They were taken to Chittagong. Today morning at around 9:20 the refugees have been taken for Bhasan Char after an overnight stay at a temporary transit camp at BAF Shaheen college, according to the navel source.
Total 3500 of 100,000 targeted Rohingya refugees have been relocated to Bhasan Char and the left figure will be shifted in phases. 22 NGOs have been working to send Rohingyas to Bhasan Char who want to go voluntarily, according to Jesmin Prema, chairperson of the social and welfare Development organisation.
Food items have been stored in the char for three months as initially, cooked food will be provided to Rohingyas by NGO’s, sources added.
