On Wednesday a press release issued by The United Nations indicates that the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) assured to provide $8 million to support Rohingya refugees of Bangladesh.
The funding allocation to Bangladesh is part of a CERF initiative to support underfunded humanitarian operations in 14 countries in Africa, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East.
UN humanitarian Chief Martin Griffiths said, “It is a cruel reality that in many humanitarian operations, aid agencies are scraping along with very little funding right at a time when people’s needs compel them to scale up.”
This June, CERF generously donated for affected people by Cyclone Mocha and other bad weather by approving $10m and $3m fund for Myanmar and Bangladesh respectively.
