From Thursday morning No man’s land at Konapara, Tombru border near Bandarban submerged under water due to 48 hours of continuous rainfall. More than 1,000 Rohingya refugees are now suffering from the scarcity of drinking water and lantern.
Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Department Assistant Meteorologist Abdur Rahman said that 55mm rainfall was recorded in the last 24 hours in Cox’s Bazar. This is the highest rainfall since the beginning of the ongoing monsoon season.
Refugee Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (RRC) of Bangladesh Mohammad Abul Kalam said, “The condition has been caused due to the construction of Myanmar’s barbed bridge.”
According to Dil Mohamed, Chairman of No Man’s land, the entire shelter camp was submerged with the wastewater after the heavy rain. Rohingyas are living in great suffering.
