Currently, there are nearly 350 isolation beds in Cox’s Bazar. However, this number will increase to 1900 beds by the end of this month.

According to a report by Anadolu Agency, where Md. Mahbub Alam Talukder, head of RRRC was quoted, “Under our ongoing mega projects we are working to extend the isolation beds for coronavirus-infected patients to 1,900 in Cox’s Bazar for both Rohingya and locals by this month.”

In addition, a 60-bed Severe Acute Respiratory Infection Isolation and Treatment Centers (SARI ITCs) COVID-19 Hospital in Cox’s Bazar was inaugurated on Sunday. Besides, a 250-bed hospital is also under construction in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.

Various international NGOs and UN bodies are constantly building facilities to counter the Covid-19 in the Rohingya refugee camps.

A 50 beds Isolation centre is also inaugurated today specifically for pregnant Rohingya women in refugee camp number 4 by International Rescue Committee (IRC). The project is named “HOPE COVID Isolation Center”.

The UNHCR has set up isolation and treatment centres in the Refugee camps. As well, it has constructed two Severe Acute Respiratory Infection Isolation and Treatment centres (SARI ITCs) with up to 200 beds.
