Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh – June 6, 2026
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar on Friday and expressed concern about the difficult conditions faced by Rohingya refugees.
During his visit, Fidan said that a humanitarian tragedy is taking place in the camps and that Türkiye has been providing support since the beginning of the Rohingya crisis. He said he wished such suffering did not exist and emphasized the importance of helping people in need.
More than one million Rohingya refugees are currently living in overcrowded camps in Cox’s Bazar after fleeing violence in Myanmar. Turkish government agencies and aid organizations have been providing healthcare, food assistance, and other services to the refugees for years.

Fidan also visited a Turkish field hospital in the camp area and thanked the doctors and aid workers for their efforts. He praised their dedication and said they continue to work hard despite challenging conditions.
The Turkish foreign minister stressed the need to move from temporary humanitarian assistance to a long-term and sustainable solution for the Rohingya people. He also thanked the Government of Bangladesh for hosting the refugees and supporting them during the crisis.
Fidan compared Bangladesh’s hospitality toward the Rohingya refugees to Türkiye’s support for people displaced by the war in Syria. He said both countries have opened their doors to people fleeing conflict and hardship.
Türkiye remains one of the countries actively supporting Rohingya refugees through humanitarian and medical assistance while continuing to call for a lasting solution to the crisis.
