Cox’s Bazar, 11 September 2026: A 26-year-old Rohingya man has reportedly gone missing from Camp 18 in Ukhiya, with his family saying they later received a demand for Tk 20 lakh for his release.
The missing man was identified as Ayas, son of Norislam.
His family told Rohingya Khobor that he was last seen at around 5:00 p.m. on 10 September in Main Block A, Sub-Block H58 of Camp 18.
Family members said they have been unable to contact or locate him since then.
“He went missing at around 5:00 p.m. yesterday, and we have been very worried since then,” a family member said.
The family also said it received a demand for Tk 20 lakh (BDT 2 million) in connection with his release.
Rohingya Khobor could not independently verify who made the demand, whether Ayas is being held against his will, or where he may currently be.
The family has appealed for help to locate him safely.
It was not immediately clear whether the family had filed a missing-person report, general diary or complaint with APBn, police or camp authorities.
Rohingya Khobor could not independently verify the circumstances of Ayas’s disappearance or the reported ransom demand at the time of publication.
