On 18 September 2022 (Sunday) the military council arrested 31 Rohingyas including 12 women from the beach of Shwe Sain Yan in Pathein township under Ayerawaddy division while they were travelling for Malaysia.

There are 19 men and 12 women who have been kept at the police station in Shwedagon Pagoda for questioning, according to source close to police station.

“They must have come in by boat. There is no boat to be seen. We caught a large group of them near Shwe Sain Yan beach of Ogyan River,” a local told the reporters.

Earlier, on 23 July of this year, a navel ship belonging to the military council captured a boat carrying 48 Rohingyas from the sea, west of Shwedagon Pagoda.

Military council detained more than 500 Rohingyas from the region of Ayerawaddy in last six months, where 100 of them were sentenced to 2 years prison, according to police records.
