On 29 August 2022 around 3:30 am, an animal like fox dragged out a baby of 7 months and severely injured while mother was in sound sleep leaving the door open in camp 24 of Hleda under Teknaf police station.
Neighbour Imam Hussain told Rohingya Khobor that he heard the loud cry of a baby and went out for the search of crying baby, where he saw that a fox-like animal had eaten the child’s anus and made it bloody. Then he screamed and rescued the child and took him to Hleda IMO Hospital. After preliminary treatment there, the on duty doctor referred the baby to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for better treatment, where the baby breathed its’ last.
The deceased baby has been identified as Riya Moni (7 months) daughter of Hussein Ahmad and Noor Kaida, resident of Block C-22 of Hleda camp 24 in Teknaf.
Azim Ullah, Block Majhi of C-Block confirmed the truth of this incident by saying that at around 6:30 pm, the funeral prayer of Riya Moni has been accomplished.
The refugees are in panic following the incident.
