Since August to September this year, the number of medical staff infected with COVID-19 in Arakan State reached almost 70, according to the Rakhine State Public Health Department.

“Nearly 70 medical staff were infected with COVID-19 and some of them have recovered. The positive cases are from various Arakan State townships and they are in good health,” Dr Soe Win Paing said.

Dr Zaw Lwin, superintendent of Sittwe General Hospital, told that three COVID-19 patients had died in Arakan State so far.

As of September 26, the national tally of COVID-19 cases had reached more than 9,900 and the number of coronavirus-positive cases in Rakhine State was more than 1,200, according to figures from the Ministry of Health and Sports.
