On 13 November 2021 (Saturday) at around 4:30 pm an Islamic higher institution called Rayazul Ulum Madarasa of Michaung Zay, Buthidaung has been set blazed.

The Islamic institution (Madarasa) was founded by Pir Muzaffar Saab and thousands of Islamic scholars have graduated from here. It provides the graduation level of Islamic education.

Although the source of the fire blaze is unknown, the locals believe that a group of extremist Rakhines have set fire to root out Islamic education and to intimidate the Rohingyas to flee away from their homes.

A tense situation is prevailing following the incident.
