Teknaf, Bangladesh | 9 March 2026
The Bangladesh Navy has seized approximately 230,000 yaba pills near the Teknaf border following a late night anti narcotics operation on 8 March, according to Bangladeshi media reports.
The operation took place in the Rangikhali area of Nila Union near the Naf River, close to the border with Myanmar.
Reports said a special team of the Bangladesh Navy launched the operation after receiving information about suspected drug smuggling activities in the area. During the search, navy personnel discovered two white bags at a location believed to be used by traffickers.
After inspecting the bags, officers found around 230,000 yaba tablets.
Authorities said the estimated market value of the seized drugs is about 115 million taka.
Sources said the smugglers had left the bags near a mangrove forest along the Naf River and fled toward the Maungdaw side when the navy began the operation. Individuals who were expected to receive the drugs on the Bangladesh side also reportedly fled the area.
As a result, the drugs were seized without any suspects being arrested.
The confiscated yaba tablets were later handed over to Teknaf Police Station for further legal proceedings.
