On 14 November 2022, Japan Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ito Naoki, said that it is unlikely to see a full – scale Rohingya repatriation anytime soon due to the situation in Myanmar at this moment. Without improvement the situation of Myanmar, it will be very difficult for us to see their repatriation to Myanmar, he said.

The Ambassador also said that the parties may be able to start pilot reparation at this moment, but not full-scale reparation of the Rohingya, to their homeland. “Of course, the Ambassador said the right things, the current situation of Myanmar would not allow us to return home in this movement ” said Rahamd Ullah, a Rohingya community leader from the refugee camp.

“Unfortunately, the situation of the Refugee camp is not good for us so repatriation is our top priority ” he added.
