A landslide killed a Rohingya mother and daughter at Ukhiya Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar. On receiving the news, police and fire service personnel recovered two bodies.
The deceased are Jannat Ara (28) wife of Anwar Islam and her daughter Mahim Akhter (2) of Block-A/6 of Camp No. 9.
Commanding Officer of 8 APBN Md. Amir Zafar (BPM) confirmed that this incident happened on Monday (August 7) around 5:30 pm.
He said that as a result of continuous rains in the afternoon, a landslide occurred on the house of Anwar Islam located on the side of the hill. Meanwhile, his wife and two-year-old daughter were buried under the ground. On receiving the news, police and fire service personnel reached the spot and recovered two bodies.
Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ali said that the bodies have been handed over to the family.
