Myanmar Military begins clearance operation in Rakhine: at least 4 killed and 4 injured in the last 48 hours

Regular fighting between Myanmar Military and the Arakan Army (AA) Continues in various townships of Rakhine state including Kyauktaw, Ponnagyun, Mrauk-U, Rathedaung and Buthidaung where a large number of civilian lost life, property and were internally displaced both from the Rohingya and Rakhine community.

At least four people died and four other injured in the last 48 hours due to Myanmar military heavy artillery shelling in Dalet Netmaw village of Ann township, Pridaung Muslim village of Buthidaung township and Kyauk Twin Gon village of Mrauk-U township.

Among the deceased two individuals were identified as U Ba Maung (67) and Nyunt Aye (42) and amongst the injured were Ma Hnin Mwe (2), Daw Hla Hla New (36), U Chit Tin (59) from Dalet Netmaw village, Ann township and U Marmad Einu (27) from Pridaung Muslim village, Buthidaung township.

On Wednesday a man named U Maung Aye Nyunt (50) was injured by gunfire in the Shwe Parami IDP camp in Rathedaung township.

Light Infantry Battalion No.538, based in the Rathedaung town .

Myanmar has recently sent a directive to initiate an intensive clearance operation in Rakhine state.
