Bangladesh RAB arrested Ershad, alias Noman Chowdhury, the private assistant of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) chief in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.  He is also said to be the confederate of ARSA.  He was arrested from Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar in the early hours of Monday (02 October).

The arrested Noman Chowdhury is the son of Sabbir Ahmed of Tumbru Konar Para, neighborhood of Naikhongchori Upazila of Bandarban.

Noman has long been the armed bodyguard of Arsa Chief Zununi due to his skill in handling sophisticated weapons.  RAB said that he has been working as ARSA chief’s personal assistant and finance coordinator for two years.

RAB-15 office, Captain Lt.  Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain said this in a press briefing at Cox’s Bazar on Monday (02 October) in the afternoon,

Ershad has several cases against him with allegations of committing various crimes.  Apart from this, he has been given the responsibility as personal assistant of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army chief Ata Ullah Abu Ammar Jununi.

RAB personnel also said, “Terrorist activities were being conducted in various camps under the leadership and guidance of Ershad.”  He had been receiving money from money suppliers of different countries for a long time.
