RAB arrests 3 arms suppliers to ARSA

On Thursday morning, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three arms suppliers to Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA).

They were detained from Chakaria Bara Veola area of ​​Cox’s Bazar.

RAB-15 captain Lt. Col. Saiful Islam Sumon confirmed the matter in a press conference this afternoon.

The detained persons are – Mokhtar Ahmad (52), Abdur Rahim (40), Md.  Enamul Haque (38).

Saiful said that the arms dealers left from Maheshkhali in CNG auto-rickshaws to Ukhia Rohingya camp to supply arms to the ARSA terrorist group.  On receiving the news, a check post was set up in Bara Veola Lalbrij area of ​​Chakaria and a search operation was conducted.  Three people including the driver were arrested while fleeing after sensing the presence of RAB.  At that time, four firearms including three single-barreled guns, one double-barreled gun and cash of Tk 1 lakh 5 thousand, ATM card, NID card were recovered from them.

The RAB-15 captain also said that the initial interrogation revealed that they have been secretly trading illegal weapons in the areas of Maheshkhali and Chakaria for a long time.  Apart from this, the Rohingya camp has been regularly selling weapons to various miscreants including members of the ARSA group.

The official of RAB also said that legal action against the detained persons is under process.
