A Rohingya volunteer blood donor was reportedly attacked by suspected robbers in Balukhali on Monday afternoon after responding to what appeared to be an emergency request for blood.
The volunteer, identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Arafat from Camp 7, reportedly received a call asking him to arrange blood for a patient.
According to information received by Rohingya Khobor, Arafat contacted another donor, and the two travelled together in a CNG auto-rickshaw to assist the patient.
When they reached the Balukhali area, a group of men allegedly stopped their vehicle and demanded money and personal belongings.
The two volunteers were reportedly beaten with sticks and sharp weapons after refusing to hand over their possessions.
Arafat was reportedly taken to an MSF hospital for treatment. His current medical condition and the condition of the second donor remain unconfirmed.
The initial account suggests that the emergency blood request may have been used to lure the volunteers to the location, although Rohingya Khobor has not independently verified that allegation.
It remains unclear whether the attackers took any money or belongings or whether a complaint has been filed with the authorities.
